I find that I am constantly searching to understand my identity in my friendships, relationship, family, and even workplace. So, when I heard a commercial for an at-home DNA test that could “help answer, once and for all, what it is that makes you, you,” my curiosity finally got the best of me. I swiped my cheek, sent off my saliva, and the search for my identity began.

A Point of View: Those Shameful Walls of Exclusion

Before July 26, 1990, many American citizens were denied employment based on bias. Many were refused service at businesses. Many were subject to inhumane treatment. What came on that date was a milestone in our nation’s history. President H.W. Bush summarized the occasion with a simple yet overdue statement: “Let the shameful walls of exclusion finally come tumbling down.”
