The Buzz: Construction Giant Skanska Makes a Huge Step Toward Inclusivity

The number of women in the construction industry has grown over the years. According to the Institute for Women’s Policy Research, between 2017 and 2018 alone the number of women working in construction trades increased by 17.6%. In an effort to provide a more inclusive workplace, Skanska has taken the feedback they have gathered from their female employees and launched a line of safety equipment that is tailored for female bodies.

The Buzz: Is the NFL Really Ready?

Last week, NFL free-agent Ryan Russell came out as a bisexual man. As much as I would like for this not to be news—but rather an everyday display of courage and truth—it’s a milestone. Currently, there are no active athletes in the NFL, NBA, MLB or NHL who are openly bisexual or gay. In fact, if Russell takes to the field to play in the regular season, he will be the first male athlete to do so in the NFL after coming out.

Last week, I found myself recording a video of my 2-year-old daughter dancing in her car seat to Old Town Road by Lil Nas X. The song came on as I was waiting in a drive thru line, and as soon as the beat dropped, she immediately started bopping.
