This week, Sesame Street introduced its newest character, Julia. Julia is one of Elmo’s friends and also has autism. Throughout the episode, Big Bird learns more about Julia and autism, and the beauty in those things that make her different. Despite their differences and a few misunderstandings along the way, they ultimately find shared meaning in play and friendship.
