As Mary-Frances prepares to deliver the keynote address for a session by the same name tomorrow, the American people and several large corporations seem to be taking this message to heart and expressing their beliefs in bold ways.
In the wake of an election that shocked most of the world, protestors across the US are walking the streets of Portland, Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and 20 other cities, uplifting a variety of causes including immigration reform, LGBTQ rights, Civil Rights, Black Lives Matter and the Dakota Access Pipeline. Over the last week, thousands of students have walked out of their classrooms at the high school and collegiate levels from Seattle to Miami.
Since November 8th, several companies issued statements reiterating their commitment to Inclusion and Diversity. Apple CEO Tim Cook released a statement confirming “Our company is open to all, and we celebrate the diversity of our team here in the United States and around the world.” Goldman Sachs announced a new partner class with the largest percentage of women in their history.
While there have been incidents of intolerance and hateful behavior on both sides since the election, most protestors are focused on uniting for a greater good and hopeful about what’s to come from we the people.
